Do Clear Aligners Affect speech?

Clear Aligners, just as with any orthodontic appliance, might affect your speech. You may develop a lisp or struggle to pronounce certain letters clearly. But this will only be for a short duration while your tongue and mouth adjust to the aligners. With some practice, you'll be able to overcome any issues you once had with speaking clearly.


Does Clear Aligner teeth straightening hurt?

Patients may experience tenderness or temporary discomfort at initial aligner placement and after switching to each new aligner. This is due to the pressure exerted by the Aligners on the teeth which is a sign of the treatment progressing!

One way to alleviate the discomfort is by changing your Aligners at night right before you go to bed which helps because you can sleep through the soreness that comes with a new set of aligners.


How long should I wear my Aligners every day?

To get the best outcome, you need to wear the aligners for as long as possible, preferably for 20-22 hours per day. Each aligner moves your teeth a preset distance before you move onto the next aligner. But in order to move your teeth in the predetermined direction, your aligner needs time — and consistent pressure.

You should remove the aligners only while eating, drinking liquids apart from water and brushing your teeth.


How is my treatment monitored?

Route to Smile is a doctor-directed treatment. However, unlike braces where you have to visit your doctor every 3-4 weeks, clear aligners free up your schedule with visits to the clinic only once every 6-8 weeks.


What are the dietary restrictions while wearing Clear Aligners?

There are no food restrictions with aligners. However aligners must ALWAYS be removed when eating. Also, except for cold or room temperature water, always remove aligners while drinking anything. Do not chew gum wearing aligners and it is advisable to not smoke while wearing the aligners as it may stain them.


How do I clean my teeth and Clear Aligners?

Unlike braces, in aligners you need not make an extra effort to maintain your oral hygiene. Brush and floss normally with the aligners out. Try to brush after eating and before re-inserting aligners.

You need to clean your aligners too. You can use a soft-bristled toothbrush (not the one you use to brush your teeth daily) and a gentle, clear liquid soap to remove any debris or food particles that have accumulated during the day. A good time to clean your aligners is just before you put them back in your mouth, after a meal or drink. And remember to clean them morning and night during your typical oral hygiene routine.


Where do I store my Clear Aligners when they are not in use?

During the 2-4 hours per day that you are not wearing your current set of Clear Aligners, store them in your Aligner Storage case, which is given to you with an Aligner Maintenance Kit at the beginning of the treatment. This will help protect them from loss or damage. Never place aligners in napkins, tissues, your pocket or any other case


Do I need to wear Retainers after completing my Treatment?

The doctor may recommend wearing retainers to ensure your brand-new smile lasts forever. Retainers can be in the form of a removable set of Aligners or a Lingual retainer which is permanently affixed to your teeth.


At what age can you start your treatment with aligners?

Aligners are suitable for all ages. However ,the patient must have all permanent teeth erupted.
